Rug of the Day: Feather Pictorial by Lena Tahe
Window Rock, Navajo Nation I’m on my way to Santa Fe for Indian Market and it’s been a busy few days since the Crownpoint Rug Auction, but I wanted to share this stunning rug by Lena Tahe of Hardrock, Arizona. If you look closely at the rug (be sure to click on the picture for closer view), you’ll see feather bands are creatively and beautifully integrated into the entire design, including the Mittens. A feather motif even becomes sunrise/sunset. The more you look, the more you’ll see. Even better, this rug started at $450 and bid up to over $800, which I hope made Lena’s 400 mile round trip to Crownpoint worthwhile. I was part of the bidding frenzy, but dropped out before the final bid. At least I have the picture and perhaps Lena will see more feathers in the rocks and sky here. She says that she’s just a Feather Person!
Perhaps Lena will see some feathers in the picture below that I took out between Chinle and Ganado this evening. I almost think I see some. Why was I in Chinle? I’ll let you know in a few days.
Hagoshíí (so long for now)
