Navajo Weaving Boot Camp Class with Studio 53 in Boothbay Harbor, Maine

Boothbay Harbor, Maine

What would make this scene better? A Navajo weaving boot camp class, that’s what!

Learn Navajo weaving techniques on the rock bound coast of Maine.  Jennie Slick and I will do two sessions of our Navajo Weaving Boot Camp class in partnership with Studio 53 in Boothbay Harbor, Maine in July of 2013.  We will be doing the first session starting on Sunday, July 14 and that will end on Tuesday, July 16th.  The next session will start on Wednesday, July 17th and will run until Friday, July 19th.  We’ll be weaving at the Starfish Studio, near Boothbay. Both sessions will offer track for beginners and another for weavers who have more experience.  The class is being done in partnership with Studio 53, a fine arts gallery in Boothbay Harbor and we will have some of the finest Navajo weaving that we can bring displayed in the gallery.

If you are interested in the more advanced track, but worried that you don’t have a firm enough command of the prerequisites, please contact me and we’ll figure out the best fit for you.

Accommodations: It is your responsibility to make lodging reservations.  Jennie  and I will be staying at the Boothbay Resort, which is quite close to Starfish Studio.    For a list of other Boothbay area lodgings, check out this link.  Of course you can contact me if you would like more information on any of the lodging you find.    I’m not an expert on the region, but our contacts at Studio 53 are long-time residents of the area and they are very familiar with the accommodations offered.

You can click here to select your session and pay your $200 deposit.  A second payment of $250 will be billed to you in June.

There are currently no seats available for either session.   Please contact me if you would like to be on the waiting list for either workshop because last minute cancellations do occur.

Registration, cancellation and refund policies: A deposit is required to hold a seat in any class.  Tuition must be paid in full 30 days before your class begins.  If you find that you cannot attend the session that you have registered for, you may move to another session at no additional cost by paying any difference in tuition if there is space available.   You may cancel your registration prior to three months before your class and you will receive a full refund of your tuition less $75 in administrative fees.  If you need to cancel within three months of your class date, your tuition will be refunded less $75 if we are able to fill your seat.   If we cancel a class due to low enrollment, you’ll receive a full refund of all the fees you’ve paid or you can transfer to another session that has space.  We will  make this determination by March 15, 2013 and we will inform you immediately should we need to do it.   Since your ability to attend any class session may be affected by conditions like weather, employment and medical emergencies that cannot be anticipated, we highly recommend that you purchase trip insurance to cover the portions of your trip that may not be refundable.

I would suggest the Flagship Inn in Boothbay.

I would like to take a beginner class in July. I would really like to return to AZ/NM but I can drive from northern Vermont to Maine. I have some background in Navajo Weaving but that was many moons ago. Please let me know where participants can stay for minimal cost.
    Many thanks, Janice
