August 6-10, 2008 (Thursday-Sunday): 87th Annual Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial Gallup, NM.  Activities include multiple parades, a pow-wow, song and dance and arts exhibits. You can expect to see extremely high quality textiles at the this event.  You should have your hotel booked by mid-May if you want to attend.  1-505-863-3896

August 16-17, 2008 (Saturday-Sunday) Annual Santa Fe Indian Market At the Plaza, Santa Fe, New Mexico. Indian market is the largest exhibition and sale of American Indian Arts (over 1,200 artists and 600 booths). Highest quality in all areas, including textiles.  You need reservations six to eight months in advance if you plan to attend this event (and sleep within 150 miles of Santa Fe).  Information: SWAIA, Box 969, Santa Fe, NM 87504. November 21-22, 2008 (Friday-Saturday) Pueblo Grande Museum Rug Auction Pueblo Grande Museum, Phoenix, AZ.  This event  features both new and vintage  weavings.  Preview and lecture from 7 PM to 9 PM on Friday evening, preview from 10 to 12 noon on Saturday, auction starts at 1 PM .  4619 E. Washington St, in Phoenix, AZ.

December 13-14, 2008 (Friday-Saturday) Pueblo Grande Museum Indian Art Market Steele Indian School Park, Phoenix, AZ. This 30th Market will be held on December 13th & 14th at Steele Indian School Park, 3rd Street and Indian School Road in Phoenix. It will be open from 9:30am to 5pm, both days. Auxiliary members only may enter the Market at 8:30am on Saturday. Admission to the Market is $8 for adults, children under 12 are admitted free.

February 21-22, 2009 (Saturday-Sunday) 10 AM-5 PM Saturday, 10 AM -4 PM Sunday, Southwest Indian Art Fair, Arizona State Museum, 1013 E. University Blvd, Tucson, AZ. Meet 200 native artists working in all media, many demonstrations. Weavers scheduled to attend include Barbara Jean Teller Ornelas, Lynda Teller Pete, Larissa and Lavera Blake, and the Laughing family. This is a great opportunity to purchase work directly from the artists. Single day admission is $8, two day pass is $12. Free parking both days.

Martha and Marilou Schultz spin at the 2008 Heard Museum Indian MarketMarch 7-8, 2009 (Saturday-Sunday) 9:30 AM-5 PM: 51st Annual Heard Museum Guild Indian Fair & Market, 2301 N. Central Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85004-1323. (602) 252-8848. Premier event for all Native American art forms, includes many textile artists. This event gets very crowded, especially in the afternoon, so go early if crowds bother you. Say hello to your webmaster Mary Walker if you see her. She’ll be the bilagaana with the camera. General admission is $15. The quality of the weavings is very high and this is a great opportunity to meet some of the top weavers and purchase items directly from the artists.
